Group Texts, Guest Post by Stacy Saldivar
I received a group text asking for prayer. Wisdom, protection, safe travels, and healing for children and grandchildren were all on the list. Immediately, the group began to respond — “Praying!” The requests were for people precious not only to the text senders and recipients, but more importantly, precious to God. I love praying for people. It’s fun, exciting, and honoring. As I started to pray, I knew I wanted to encourage not only the text sender, but everyone on the group text. Who doesn’t need encouragement? I thought about what encourages me — having Bible scriptures prayed over me. I picked up my Pray the Word booklet containing verses for a number of topics, such as healing, peace, protection, and more. I keep it in my purse. It’s come in handy more than a time or two. I prayed and responded to the group texts with Bible scriptures for each situation. Agreeing in prayer and believing God for His best brings hope. The Bible is the foundation; The Truth. I am committed to use bible scriptures to encourage myself and others, and to come against the lies and accusations of the devil.
Verse for reflection: Hebrews 4:12-13, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
Let’s pray – Father God we come to you in your son Jesus Christ’s holy name. We thank you for your Word that never goes void in our lives. Use your Word to change and transform our hearts, minds, and bodies to your very best. Amen.
