I don’t know about you, but I love to be at home… And I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in this based on all the phrases I’ve heard and plaques I’ve seen that say things like – “Home Sweet Home.” “Home is where the heart is.” “The comforts of home.” “There’s no place like home.” Just saying the word makes me smile…Home is my place to let my hair down, kick off my shoes (and not care that I’m only 5’2″), and relax. For me, time at home refreshes me, re-energizes me and prepares me to go back out and face the world.

As wonderful as it is to have a physical dwelling place to find rest and peace, the Bible says we have another shelter from the storms of life, that does more for us than any house ever could. In John 15:9, Jesus said,” I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love.” Another version says, “Abide in my love.”

The beauty of having the love of Christ to make ourselves at home in, is that it’s available to us 24/7. No matter where we are or what we are going through, we can abide in Him and find all the comfort, all the peace, all the joy, all the healing, all the hope, all the strength we need, really the list of all he provides us is with out end!

Whatever you are walking through, I just want to remind you that you have a wonderful, beautiful place to abide – at home in the unfailing love of Christ! There is no safer, more fulfilling and restoring place to be.
